The rescue truck, 2145, is a 1997 International. The main role of the rescue truck is to extricate people from wrecked cars and to provide ventilation for fire suppression. 2145 carries four hydraulically operated rescue tools, a spreaders, shears, and two rams. Another important tool that the truck carries is the department's thermal imaging camera that allows us to see hot spots and fires inside of walls. The truck also contains compressed air cylinders called a cascade system that allows us to refill the Self Contained Breathing Apparatuses that we use in hazardous conditions like a fire or hazardous materials spill. One feature of the truck is a 6000 watt light tower that telescopes upwards from the top of the truck that can rotate 360 degrees. A 10Kw generator mounted to the truck provides the power to operate the lighting systems and electric tools. The truck is basically a rolling toolbox that carries almost any type of tool we may need on an emergency.
