Tankers

The department owns two identical tanker trucks, one housed at Station 1 and the other at Station 2. The tankers are used to provide water to rural parts of the district with limited or no water access. Our trucks carry 2,500 gallons of water and have portable tanks that they drop at the scene and fill. After the portable tank is filled, pumpers draft out of it as their only source of water besides their smaller onboard tanks. As soon as the tanker empties it's water into the portable drop tank, it drives to the nearest source of water to fill up and the process repeats it's self. One important design feature of the two tanker trucks is a poly tank that resists corroding from the water. One of the great safety benefits built into the trucks are baffles in the tank. These baffles keep the large weight of the water from shifting from side to side, making the truck much safer to drive.
